P-DTR

Proprioceptive Deep Tendon Reflex

Proprioceptive Deep Tendon Reflex (P-DTR), the brainchild of Orthopedic surgeon Jose Palomar, is a complex technique that allows us to have a better understanding of how the nervous system works and how it might lead to common complaints of pain, discomfort, and reduced functions.

With P-DTR, we are equipped with ways to assess the nervous system and provide treatment by targeting dysfunctional receptors.

Traditional Medical Approach

Most medical interventions and surgeries target "hardware" — structural problems in the body.

P-DTR Approach

P-DTR aims to target "software" — nervous system sensitivity problems.

Input to the nervous system via stimuli to the different receptors in our body is processed in the brain, leading to an eventual output (pain, stiffness, weakness etc).

Pairing certain receptors with a deep tendon reflex, the dysfunctional afferent signal can be normalized. By doing so, proper function can be restored.

What P-DTR Can Address

  • Pain and discomfort from nervous system dysfunction
  • Muscle stiffness and reduced flexibility
  • Weakness and reduced function
  • Movement restrictions
  • Dysfunctional receptor signals
  • Chronic conditions that haven't responded to traditional treatment
